Our Story
Dark Skies Tenerife Guide began in Vilaflor, Spain’s highest village at 5,000 feet above sea level, where we started offering small trips for guests at a local B&B. Word quickly spread, and we found ourselves welcoming curious travellers from Tenerife’s coastal resorts. It was clear that Tenerife’s pristine skies were destined to inspire astronomers and photographers.
Ranked as one of the world’s top three astrophotography destinations, alongside Chile and Hawaii, Tenerife is celebrated for its incredible visibility and clear skies year-round. NASA has even described the island as a “Window to the Universe.” Inspired by this, our founder Steve collaborated with professional astronomers and astrophotographers to assemble a passionate team of guides and develop unique night sky experiences. Operating on the island for many years now, our team is made up of guides who bring a wealth of knowledge in astronomy. We’re deeply connected to the island and its skies, and we believe in passing that connection onto our guests.
Over the years, we’ve grown from a small local offering into a trusted name for astrophotography holidays, beginner workshops, and immersive night sky tours. While our sister companies, Stargazing Tenerife and Stargazing Gran Canaria, focuses on Sunset and Stargazing tours, Dark Skies Tenerife Guide is dedicated to the art and science of astrophotography.

Steve - Founder and Astrophotography Guide
Steve, the founder of Dark Skies Tenerife and an experienced astrophotography guide, is one of the pioneers of stargazing on the island. With his deep knowledge of the stars and a long-standing connection to Tenerife’s night sky, he was among the first guides certified by the Starlight Foundation. Steve’s passion for astronomy is contagious, and he’s always eager to share his love for the cosmos with others.
